Finally! for all of us who always wanted to host a NO-CD server, here is how:
Prerequisites: Have installed Arma 2+OA, if not done then look at this guides:
------------------------------------------------------------------
0. Don't skip Prerequisites! To host a server you need a working client, look above.
1. Download the server pack: DayZ 1.7.3 Bliss Private Server
2. Extract all files and folders in your ArmA 2 Combined Operations folder
3. Run dayz_server_setup.bat with Administrator mode and follow the instructions.
4. After the setup, start the server with dayz_server.bat
5. Get in game-> multiplayer ->LAN/Internet to play-> your server name.
FAQ:
Do i need to open a port so players can enter?
Yes you do, first you have to open the port 2302 both UDP and TCP on your windows firewall.
Also you need to open (forward) the same port on your router.
It says "Invalid CD-Key" whenever me or someone joins my server!?
Block UDP port 29910 using your firewall or router.
What beta uses this server?
98443.
Only players that have that beta installed (or superior) will be able to play on this server.
How to change the default server name?
After installing the server, run "dayz_server_setup.bat" type option 6, press enter.
On the config.cfg file edit the parameter "hostname".
How do i change the Admin password?
Run "dayz_server_setup.bat" type option 6, press enter.
On the config.cfg file edit the parameter "passwordAdmin".
How do i kick other player from the game?
Inside the game type: #login yourpass.
and press enter, this will grant you the Admin status.
now press P to see the players list, select a player and click "kick".
How do i change game time?
I'm looking for a best way to achieve this but for now, changing the time zone of your computer to one that have the desired game time (Daytime/Nighttime) before starting the server will do for now.
How can i spawn vehicles on the server?
Run "dayz_server_setup.bat" type option 4, press enter, and press Ok on the window that pops-up.
Then return to the menu and press 3 enter, then 2 enter, type the number of the mission and then select the number of vehicles, max is 52.

ReplyDeleteI cant seem to find my server, i added a new host name but when i search it it wont come up on DayZ commander or the game itself
ReplyDeletePort 2302 needs to be open on both firewall and router.
ReplyDeleteThen get in game, multiplayer -> LAN.
Do you see the server there? is yes, get in game and stay there.
Give it a minute and you should see the server on both Internet/dayz Commander as well. (refresh servers)
Put the server some unique name so you can filter servers with that word to find it easily.
I am unable to see the server in LAN, also i am having trouble with the port forwarding, i have a Thompson gateway router and am unsure as to put in the following boxes:Protocol, Port Range, Translate to, Trigger protocol and trigger port. I am also unable to find the port in firewall.

What rules you need:
Open: 2302 TCP/UDP outbound and inbound. (4 rules)
Block: 29910 UDP outbound and inbound. (2 rules)
To open ports on any router you need to set your IP to static first.
There are several sites explaining how to forward ports on a Thompson gateway router, google it you will see.
What you need to do is Open 2302 on both TCP/UDP.
Ok everything done, but i do not have 29910 UDP rules in my firewall, will this matter?

ReplyDeleteI still hav issues with the 'wait for host' and all my 2302 ports are open. i have also seen in the server console that 'BattlEye Server: Failed to create update file' then 'update attempt failed'. I also tried reinstalling the server in the Tungle LAN NO Battleye version, no luck. Everytime i try to edit the config it says some other program is using it.

i think it could be a problem to update your beta manually.
ReplyDeleteYou should delete the beta folder and run dayz_server_setup.bat and choose the option to install the beta patch (98443) that is what the server uses.
Don't install betas through other method nor install a different beta.
Let me know if this helped i'll have to make some adjustments to the guide.

and then followed the instruction on this one and forwarded the ports, but my server still doesn't show up. When I start DayZ_game a cmd window pops up briefly saying arma2os.exe isn't found. i'm not sure if that's relevant or not, the instructed shortcut still works
Additionally, I installed DayZ Commander and updated but it still doesn't show up.

ReplyDeleteyeah for some reason i had real ease getting through most everything my server shows up on lan but not on internet, which is fine. But everytime i try to join my own server it says "bad version, server rejected connection" and im pretty sure during the setup it put my arma 2 condition with the same beta build as my server so im kinda confused on what to do. As well i will try to see if updating it to the latest version will help.

I can't run the dayz_server_setup.bat in administrator mode, because after selecting the language it closes saying that it "could not found the specificated route"... and then when I run it without the adm mode it works well but when starts coping files through the cmd every single file says "could not found the specificated route". ReplyDeleteI reinstalled my game and that fixed everything. The main problem was that i added the contents still inside the folder DayZ Private master, where i should have extracted the contents on their own. Hope this helps someone else

Lo de abrir el puerto 2032 se cómo hacerlo pero solo de una forma (es decir: o es UDP o es TCP) y además de eso: qué nombre le pongo al puerto? (Para hacer esto es --> panel de control/firewall de windows/agregar puerto?). Avanzando, eso del mismo puerto en el router, a qué te referis? ReplyDeleteTents don't save, they vanish upon server restart along with their contents.
Certain vehicles, although in the vehicle table marked as spawned, are not allowed in the game (i.e. any of the trucks, 4x4's, little bird heli [allowed since 1.7.4.4 but not here], and maybe even more). Are you aware of this problem?

If anybody is still reading these and has problems being stuck at the "Wait for host" thing, I had the same problem, I Googled it and this link kinda helped me, http://dayzcc.tk/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=325 though all I had to do was move the entire "addons" folder from Arma 2 into the Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead folder and then I was able to join, don't know how that fixed it but it did for me, also saw a few people saying they had the "Bad version, server rejected connection", I have the game on steam and it gives me 2 options when I go to start it, "Play Arma 2: DayZ Mod", or "Play with Beta Patch", I have to start it in the Beta Patch otherwise it gives me the "Bad Version...", or else there is a different option to start the game that works for me, in the Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead folder there are the "dayz_game.bat", "dayz_server.bat", and then "dayz_server_setup.bat", use "dayz_game" and I just select whatever map I'm using for my server, it should eliminate the "Bad Version..." thing, at least it does for me
